My research for these objects, and way of working;

Water covers 66% of the earths surface, whichever way it appears from clouds to oceans and everything in between, water is a rich source of visual study for creative observers.

When I make things I work in a way which promotes a level of unpredictability. I attempt to work through this process to achieve a successful outcome. I often use sections from previous pieces if they have the potential to fit. Trying to balance these elements seems to me to be an enjoyable challenge.

The process I use to make veneers involves laminating pieces of woods and dyed veneers together to produce a solid block. I will cut, change the positions and glue back to result in unpredictable variations this block is used to produce thin veneers.

Wood grain is very beautiful and the pattern is never the same. I use a combination of natural and colour stained oils to finish the surfaces of the work. This brings out the grain variations which affect the shadows on the surface. I look forward to when I put the oils on the surface for the first time, the results can be striking.
